Lampranthus aureus - Orange Form

Lampranthus aureus - Orange Form

Low maintenance or no maintenance, take your pick. Lampranthus aureus Orange Form is a dazzling orange dewplant that blankets itself in incandescent 2.5" rayed flowers for several months in spring, with lighter rebloom through summer when given occasional water. The effect is pure dry-garden fireworks.

This rarely seen, non-invasive ice plant forms a dense mound about 1' tall and 2' wide with slender deep green succulent foliage. It is a fabulous choice for sunny slopes, rock gardens, dry borders, low-water landscapes, parking strips, containers, and erosion-prone spots that need color without fuss. Butterflies visit the bright blooms, while the plant itself is drought tolerant, deer resistant, and fire resistant.

Plant Lampranthus aureus Orange Form in full sun with well-drained soil. It tolerates neglect, but becomes a real superstar with an annual 1" side-dress of compost. Cut back to about 3" after a year or so to keep it fresh and compact. Explore more bold succulents in our Lampranthus - Dewplant collection.
