Salvia argentea - Silver Sage

Soft, silvery, and wonderfully touchable, Salvia argentea is a stunning drought tolerant accent plant with serious texture appeal. Also known as Silver Sage, it forms a large, low rosette up to 3' across, with wavy leaves wrapped in downy silver fuzz that practically beg to be admired up close.

This unusual sage is perfect for dry gardens, Mediterranean-style plantings, rock gardens, gravel beds, sunny borders, and containers where excellent drainage can be provided. Place it near the front of the garden so its bold foliage can shine as a visual and textural focal point. In summer, dramatic candelabra stems rise 3' or taller, carrying white hooded flowers that add architectural interest.

Plant Salvia argentea in full sun with sharply drained soil. It is drought tolerant once established and especially striking with agaves, grasses, lavenders, yarrows, and other low-water companions.
